As it turns out, it often doesn't work all that well, as with no real thought having gone into these modes, you're left playing through a single player game with two people - the only real benefit being that you now have double the firepower. There's no particular need for you to work together, and in some cases, you can't even drive the same vehicles. In all, it's a pity poor show, but every now and then, you'll get a game that makes it work, and makes it work well. A game like a Halo, or a Resistance, that drains you and your buddy of sleep for the next month or so, as you play through with a friend, and the experience is magnified many times over. With Army of Two, EA are looking to take co-op to the next level. Here, co-op isn't simply a mode - it's the entire damn game. While that doesn't mean it's necessary to rope in a friend for all you Billy no mates out there, as the computer can take over the second player when need be, it's apparent from the start that this is a game that's been made to be played through with two people. And in our books, that's enough to get us excited. Click here to read the full Army of Two preview for the PS3 now! |
