The Dynasty Warriors hack-n-slash action series is a huge hit in Japan, with a massive and loyal fanbase, but it's never captured gamers' imagination in the same way here in the UK. This could all be about to change with the arrival of Dynasty Warriors 6, due out in March, the first of the series to be developed exclusively for next-gen consoles and making use of all of the PS3's awesome capabilities. Dynasty Warriors 6 preview for PS3

If you lived in Japan, you could be mobbed for asking. Dynasty Warriors 6 is the latest game in the hack-and-slash franchise which has sold over 15 million copies in Japan, without ever seeming to ignite gamers’ interests over here.

What’s the story?
Taking its cues from the novel “Romance of the Three Kingdoms”, Dynasty Warriors 6 revolves around the massive battles that followed the fall of the Han Dynasty, as three rebellious factions tried to overthrow China’s rule. Thankfully, rather than just being a standard rehash, the game actually seems to be a bit different this time round, with an all new graphics engine leading the charge. With enemy AI which adapts to changing battle situations, a range of new units including hunting dogs and patrol boats, and a redesigned combo system known as “Renbu”, this could inject the series with the change it’s needed for the past few years.
