If you're looking for a truly next-gen racing game, then look no further than Burnout Paradise, descendant of the Xbox 360 racer Burnout Revenge. The road racer favourite opens up a whole new world and totally revamped gameplay in this latest iteration - the Burnout Paradise environment is a totally free-roaming world, with a host of different races and events, from old favourites like Road Rage to brand new additions like Stunt Run. We enjoyed Burnout Paradise so much we've given it our P3Zine Gold Award - read our review to find out what makes this road racer stand out from the crowd.

Burnout Paradise review for PS3

Over in Xbox 360 Land, Criterion Games' Burnout Revenge is still one of the finest road racers ever produced for the system. It may be an HD port of the PlayStation 2 game with some cool new upgrades, but in terms of graphics and gameplay, it's still an absolute winner almost two years on. For its first true ‘next gen' title, it would have been so easy for Criterion simply to build upon its older work and hand in the ‘expected' upgrade.

Instead, the talented UK team started the whole project completely from scratch. Burnout Paradise doesn't contain a single line of code from any of the previous games, it's a complete reinvention not just from a technical standpoint, but also in terms of gameplay too. Gone are linear circuits from the previous games, replaced with a vast open world map that lets you go anywhere you want from the very beginning. Populating Paradise City are over 100 events ranging from Burnout favourites like Races and Road Rage events through to the brand new Marked Man and the sublime Stunt Run.
