Roleplaying behemoth Warhammer comes to the PC this autumn with the launch of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, and could mark a huge change in the MMO world. Twenty-five years ago, if you'd told the bearded hordes of Warhammer enthusiasts that one day their beloved lead miniatures would come to life in a massive interactive world, they'd have probably choked on their paint fumes. Assuming the release date doesn't slip again, that will become the reality this Autumn as Warhammer Online: Age Of Reckoning is finally unleashed, along with an extremely weighty collector's edition. As a show of strength, key members of the development team were flown from their Virginia base to rainy Paris to bombard a hungry press with a series of bewildering acronyms and abbreviations.

As any fool knows, like pre-EA MMORPG DAoC, GOA's WAR will have PvE, PQs and PvP in the form of RvR. - WTF? FYI, before being swallowed up the behemoth that is Electronic Arts, Mythic was best known for Dark Age Of Camelot, an Arthurian romp that distinguished itself from the mire through the inception of Realm versus Realm gameplay, whereby great big armies would go at each other in a constant battle for power. This concept has been retained for WAR, with all manner of muscular heroes and buxom lasses involved in a constantly evolving conflict.
