Classic MMO Jumpgate gets a sequel later this year in Jumpgate Evolution, a space-faring action adventure. Comparisons with EVE will be pretty inevitable, given the similar setting, but our hands-on experience with the game in development suggests that they'll be unfounded, as the gameplay and missions are very different. Jumpgate Evolution preview
"Accessibility is our mantra." For many MMOs, accessibility may seem like a foreign concept, but for Scott Brown, the President of Jumpgate Evolution creators, NetDevil, it's been their number one priority from the very start of development.

The sequel to classic MMO, Jumpgate, Jumpgate Evolution is a space faring, action oriented MMO, which, although it may draw instant comparisons with EVE, is actually nothing like it. Where EVE tasks you with building a huge corporate entity in space, and turning yourself into a powerful political figure, Jumpgate sets you the much more relatable challenge of shooting the crap out of everything in sight. As we found out when we went hands on with the game at Codemasters' recent Connect 08 event, it's this simple concept that provides the foundations for an incredibly impressive game.

Giving you direct control over your spaceship, with either a mouse and keyboard, or a joystick, Jumpgate thrusts you straight into the cockpit of a fighter, and lets you get stuck into the action. Citing inspirations such as Wing Commander, X-Wing, and Privateer, it's obvious NetDevil has drawn heavily from the core gameplay that made their inspirations so popular.
