Aion - Tower of Eternity interview

Due out later this year, Aion - Tower of Eternity makes some bold promises, such as being the best looking MMORPG ever. We've been talking this month to Senior Game Designer Kyoung Won Choi about what we can expect from Aion. He tells us how characters will be customised and how the PvP gameplay will work, plus we find out about the Aion version of raids, the castle sieges. How is Aion shaping up? his is one good-looking game, using the advanced Crytec engine and already boasting that it will be the bestlooking MMORPG ever. But what lies beneath the pretty face of this model MMO - are there brains to match the beauty? Senior Game Designer Kyoung Won Choi invites us in.

Will characters be given plenty of customisation options?
The player has the ability to choose between several different hairstyles, colours, shapes of their face, skin colours, character height and voice. It is also possible to alter eye colours and to add tattoos to the character face. A character build feature is currently being planned, which will affect the size of the character, ranging from skinny to big. Is player housing built in, or will be perpetual wanderers? Not at launch, but definitely as soon as possible. It is likely to be in the first expansion.

What about mounts - how do we travel around fast?
No. There are currently no plans to implement regular mounts in Aion. Transport will be done by foot or by flying. There will also be a long-range teleport system and short-range travel in which you let the game control flight to your destination.
