Age of Conan Hyborian Adventures Beta previewAge of Conan Hyborian Adventures, due out in May this year, is set to be an MMO for grown ups - Eidos promises us the opportunity for 'havoc and fury'. In Beta testing at the moment, Age of Conan will have a strong solo RPG element alongside the MMO gameplay, which will appeal to many gamers. We've had a good look at the beta version this month and we're very excited about this one - there's a strong plot and excellent MMO gameplay underneath the impressive swordplay, death and destruction. Age of Conan Hyborian Adventures Beta preview Age of Conan is an unusual MMO, as it's also a strong solo RPG before you even get into the wider adventures. Because of the MMO element, you don't get to play as Conan, but as one of his followers. Conan is at this point King of Aquilonia, but his reign is troubled by invading evil, even facing total chaos if you don't help to throw out the bad gods and their terrifying beasts. This is a very mature MMO, matching the more gruesome and bloody scenes of the films with frequent brutality and the rule of the sword. Eidos warns that "this is no cartoony fairytale" and says that grown-up gamers should prepare "to unleash the ultimate havoc and fury". The combat in Age of Conan is not only bloody and visceral, but extremely dynamic for an MMO, with a multi-point melee Real Combat engine that lets you swing weapons and make horrific contact exactly where you direct them in real time, even from the game's mounts.
