Free Realms review MMO

Free Realms review

Free Realms review

Free Realms is targetting the younger gaming market and offers very little in terms of chracter creation, allowing you to shape your character by what you choose to do. Unusually for an MMO, but not surprising given the target market, this can be completely combat free. Free Realms is an interesting concept, but one that is let down by the current quality of the mini-games you engage in. For the full review of Free Realms, download this issue of MMOZine.

Free Realms review Free Realms has been capturing interest for a while now and, after going through what must be the world’s shortest beta, it’s finally out in the wild. This ‘freemium’ MMO seems to be appealing to the widest demographic ever, from kids who’ve never played an MMO before to diehard adult fans who grew up with EverQuest and Ultima Online. At its heart, Free Realms is designed to be simple and fun to play. The learning curve is a delicately carved line and the tutorial introduces different features of the game at a gentle pace so you start with a blank screen and by the end of it you have everything you’ll need, from a minimap to the chatbox. The nice part of the game is that rather than playing in a client, instead you play in a browser (we used Firefox). Each time you log in, the game updates automatically and the whole process feels that much more painless. Under a basic free account you can create one character but this rises to three if you upgrade and pay a monthly fee of $4.99. Click here to continue reading our Free Realms review now!
