According to BioWare’s latest ‘State of the Game’ address, Star Wars: The Old Republic’s player population is in a very healthy state of growth, welcoming thousands of new players every day.

Executive producer Jeff Hinkley wrote a lengthy address to the community which confirmed that BioWare are looking to deliver new content to their MMORPG every eight weeks and that development on SW: TOR’s first expansion, titled ‘Rise of the Hutt Cartel’, is still on track to launch this spring.

The most startling revelation of his address though, was that since going free-to-play last October, over two million new player accounts have been created for SW:TOR. Hinkman stopped short of mentioning player retention figures, as MMO developers usually do, but from our own experiences on European servers we must admit servers do look and feel more active than they were during this game’s subscription-only days.

Existing players can enjoy a Double XP event on all SW: TOR servers from Friday, 22nd March to Monday, 25th March. To check out this community address for yourself click here.
