Pre-purchase the one-time fee MMO now to secure Alpha access.
Hammerpoint Interactive has announced that players can begin their adventures in The War Z as soon as October 15th, if they elect to go for the right pre-order package.
There’s the Pioneer package which includes $15 of in-game currency, one month of server hosting and 3 guest keys for $29.99 – by far the fairest purchase option – and then there’s the Legend assortment of goodies which includes $30 of in-game currency, 6 months server hosting and 3 guest keys. Both packages guarantee Alpha access on October 15th, and are valid until October 20th, when they’ll go up to $49.99 and $69.99 respectively.
There’s also a $19.49 option which includes access to the Beta on October 30th, if you aren’t willing to put up with the countless bugs and errors which usually blight Alpha testing sessions.
Incidentally The War Z won’t involve any subscription fee, and instead you only pay once for the game. Inevitably there will be micro-transactions present, and as of yet there’s little information about what those will actually entail. It’s the Guild Wars model affectively and we suspect this will lead many players to lend their support early. All the purchase options available can be found here.
Lots of comparisons have been made between The War Z and Day Z, but the former isn’t built on the framework of another game and is designed to be much more story-orientated with players discovering hidden stashes and notes from deceased members of a society long gone.
There’s no classes, no levels, no level caps and permadeath is a factor that every character faces, so be prepared to lose your progress…a lot.
We’ll have more news about The War Z in the next issue of MMOZine, so be sure to check it out!
