As we type, the LOTRO servers are down as Patch 1 is applied. This is the first patch since Siege of Mirkwood and among the usual tweaks and minor bug stamping, there are some more important changes.
Skirmishes, the biggest gameplay addition in Siege of Mirkwood, have been given a polish.
The tutorial will now tell people how to join a skirmish (helpful). They have addressed an "issue" that allowed people to get more skirmish marks than had been intended - sounds like an exploit fix.

Sticking with skirmishes, non-Siege of Mirkwood players "are no longer limited to 3 skirmishes". This appears to mean that people who haven't bought the expansion will now get access to the other skirmishes as they level up, but that the 1 Skirmish per week cap for them will remain in place, rather than that the play cap has been increased, but we've contacted Turbine for confirmation on this.
The level 40 Skirmish "The Survival - Barrow Downs" which was taken offline because of "issues" has been re-instated.
Among the other tweaks, Minstrels will be pleased to see that tactical criticals for healing will no longer be resisted by players, so we can do critical heals again properly, and it looks as if legendary items will have be re-specced again as "characters will be refunded all legacy points on all legendary items when Book 9 Patch 1 goes live".
