NCSoft really are pulling out all the stops for City of Heroes in an effort to attract new and old subscribers to enlist. A substantial graphical update dubbed 'Ultra Mode' is the latest tactic and judging by the screenshots to your left Paragon City has polished up rather nicely.

After: New water effects and additional shadow detail.
The mission editor is set to be tweaked and improved, with further improvements made to the user interface, as well as new badges and missions to explore.

City of Heroes Graphics Update
Before: This room looks very clean, yet undefined.
Ever since Cryptic Studios left City of Heroes/Villains to pursue their own projects many believed this epic MMO would just fade away, the reality couldn't be further from the truth.

City of Heroes Graphics Update
After: Much better, the addition of realistic shadows adds to the sense of atmosphere.
If Paragon Studios keep updating this classic franchise there's no reason why it won't continue for years to come.
