We have had a bit of a Champions Online news-fest today, and to top it off Cryptic has now announced the Champions Online Companion - an app for the iPhone/iPod Touch allowing you to access in-game information on the go.
Champs Online CompanionThe Champions Companion allows you to access information such as the latest game news and announcements, friend's lists, friends activity streams and even send and receive in-game mail.

A: The Champions Companion is a mobile companion application for the Champions Online massively multiplayer game for the iPhone and iPod touch. The Champions Companion allows you to access in-game information, such as character profiles, email, and activity streams from anywhere you have a mobile connection.

MMOs have begun to branch out into the real world more and more recently, with connections to Facebook or Twitter, which Champions already has, and they are now moving on to other platforms to allow players to still feel connected to the game.
Cryptic are not the only developers to adopt the iPhone/iPod platform, however, with Blizzard releasing the World of Warcraft Mobile Armory app, but it is nice to see them giving players more options to access game information.
The Champions Online Companion is available now on the App Store, either via your computer, or directly through iPhones and iPods.
