This week NCSoft announced the 1.9 patch for Aion, and hinted at some of the key features the patch will include.
From the information given, the patch promised to be huge, and now we have the translation of the Korean patch-notes from the public test realm, which total a whopping 26 pages!
Some of the changes planned will certainly change the game drastically - whether this will be for the better, we can only wait and see.
Some of the highlights from the upcoming patch are:
*Daily Quests
*Increased experience and improved drop rates from instance mobs and bosses.
*15 new skills will be added over the 8 classes, as well as a number of tweaks and changes to existing skills.
*A new and improved Looking for Group UI.
*Weapon modification for two-handed weapons, making them more of a fair comparison to players with duel-wield.
*Reduced costs for soul binding, soul healing and travel.
*Weapon rentals.
*Changes to gathering professions.

To keep up with the advantages of duel-wielding, players will now be able to merge a pair of two-handed weapons together, such as Greatswords, Bows, and Staves.
Vitality and Aether extractions skills can now be increased to a maximum of 499, but will also see a level restriction introduced meaning this highest skill level can only be achieved by maximum level players.
Resource dismantling is another new addition to Aion, which should be a welcome change for all players working hard on their crafting. Dismantling will allow you to dismantle certain resources into three lower level resources, so for example Brilliant Aether will convert into three Pure Aethers.
For the RPers in the community, or those who like to walk around the city in fancier clothing, brand-name boutique shops have been added to each capital city.
An interesting addition is the new rental system.
This will allow players to rent an item of armour, or a weapon, for a set period of time, after which it will disappear from their inventory.
This is useful for players who want to head into high-end dungeons, or do some PvP, without spending an absolute fortune on a new weapon that turns out to be no good to them.
Timed items will be used quite a bit following patch 1.9, it seems, as they will also be offered as rewards from daily quests.
As well as travel costs seeing a considerable reduction, new flight paths will be added to some of the busier zones where players tend to congregate, which should lessen the amount of running around we currently have to do.
These changes are only the tip of the iceberg, with the afore mentioned 26 pages of notes covering every change and addition.

So, as you can see, patch 1.9 is set to be huge, with the Korean version rumoured to be over 3GB in size, and will nicely pave the way for Aion 2.0.
Of course, there could still be more changes, or some of the features here may not make it to the western 1.9 release, which is scheduled for some point in the first half of this year.
