Codemasters Online has revealed that European territories will be able to enjoy the free-to-play version of The Lord of the Rings Online on November 2nd.
From this Tuesday, players will be able to enjoy Middle-earth’s offerings for free up to level twenty.
At the moment LOTRO requires a subscription-based membership, but the existing revenue tier will be replaced by three – VIP, Premium and Free. Players can still elect for the monthly route if they wish to gain the additional quest packs and other bonuses which the Premium players need to pay for, via the title’s in-game store.
We detailed our experiences with the game in this month’s MMOZine, so be sure to check the in-depth review if you’d like to learn more.
Introduction of the new payment model also coincides with a bevy of new content for the MMO with a new book update, dubbed Volume III, Book 2: The Ride of the Grey Company, which offers the new Enedwaith region.
GamerZines will also be publishing an exclusive interview with Codemasters Online’s GM and vice president David Solari tomorrow, so be sure to check back for more juicy information about The Lord of the Rings Online.
