Hi-Rez Studio’s COO Todd Harris has been speaking of the current state of the shooter MMO Global Agenda and the news is very encouraging.
“We recently shifted it in the past quarter to free to play and we’ve only seen great things out of that decision,” revealed Harris in an interview with PC Gamer.
“We have many many more people creating accounts every day, many more people playing concurrently, our revenues are higher than they ever have been before which means we can develop content and put it into the game faster than ever before.”
Intriguingly Harris also explained that even though he once had a “negative bias” regarding free-to-play games, Global Agenda’s transformation into a free-to-play entity has allowed the developers to focus on the way the game plays rather than advertising, culminating in a better deal for gamers.
More and more MMO makers are switching to a free-to-play model and with testimonies like this the trend will certainly continue.
