Why can’t all these publishers just get along? The latest legal wrangling between Bethesda and Interplay has come to a close regarding the long awaited Fallout MMO, with the latter company coming out on top.
According to documents obtained by CVG, Bethesda’s latest appeal centred around the argument that the previous ruling by the district court earlier this year was incorrect and that Interplay’s development of a license that they originally created would have to cease. As it happened the United States Courts of Appeals didn’t agree.
At this point in time it probably makes more sense for both companies to kiss and make up in order to bring the Fallout MMO to market, but in truth we have little comprehension of the legal and licensing ratifications which are happening behind the scenes.
Unless these two parties bury the hatchet, expect this disagreement to run and run to the detriment of both companies and gamers too.
