After careful deliberation GamersFirst has announced that the formerly subscription-only MMO Fallen Earth will go free-to-play on October 12th.
The move has been anticipated by the game’s community since June and should lead to the niche title becoming much more popular.
Free players will be able to get a ‘Scavenger’ account, where 100% of the Fallen Earth’s content will be available to enjoy and the max level structure will be able to be achieved. The biggest drawbacks for not investing include the restriction of only eight hours crafting per day, a slower salvage speed and slower character progression of 75% when compared to the premium subscription option.
To alleviate some confusion GamersFirst has put together a chart to explain what exactly the four different account options offer and that’s shown to the left.
Lifetime subscribers will be automatically upgraded to the highest ranking premium subscription option of ‘Commander’, and anyone who plays Fallen Earth before the game goes free-to-play next month will earn free Marketplace items, and a mysterious veteran reward.
GamersFirst also used this announcement to confirm that Reloaded Productions are working on a new World Event system which introduces dynamic events to Fallen Earth and that there will be special celebrations to commemorate the game’s anniversary on September 22nd.
With this renewed vigour we have our fingers crossed that Fallen Earth will finally experience the sharp increase in popularity it deserves.
