In order to group player populations together more succinctly, SOE are consolidating DC Universe Online’s 26 worldwide servers into 4 ‘MegaServers’.
The move is set to happen today with two servers for the US and two for Europe, with PlayStation 3 and PC users still split via their own respective servers.
Usually server mergers confirm a sharp downturn in player numbers for any new MMO, but Sony’s staff don’t see it that way.
“The MegaServers expanded server system allows you to live in a world with more players and it will greatly expand the number of players available in Gotham and Metropolis, as well as the combat arenas, alerts and raid zones so you can get to some of the most fun areas faster,” reads a letter from DCUO’s producer.
