NCsoft’s super hero MMO City of Heroes has now gone free-to-play.
The relaunch, dubbed City of Heroes Freedom, allows players be play over 1000 missions, choose from eight different classes, and reach level fifty with one character without paying a penny.
Most of the revenue will be earned via the in-game store, with all players who purchase items granted ‘Premium’ status. There’s also an option to still subscribe for a monthly fee and become a VIP player granting full access to the Mission Architect quest creator, as well as other benefits.
In addition to this relaunch, City of Heroes has also received a new update. Chapter 21: Convergence adds a new starter zone to get players into the experience quicker, a new zone in Praetoria, new power sets, costumes, missions and rewards.
