If you doubted the popularity of APB prepare to have egg on your face, as GamersFirst have alleged that over a quarter of a million players have registered to join APB Reloaded’s closed beta.
This news broke on the game’s official blog which also confirmed that an open beta is being planned before the free-to-play MMO’s launch.
"The dev, design and art teams are still working on a few minor tweaks in CB, but are mostly now focused on the Open Beta build that’s coming up," wrote Bjorn Book-Larsson in a recent weekly update.
"Right now we have 25,000 testers in the game, and now also well over 250,000 people that have registered their interest in the game. We continue to see between 600 and 1,600 simultaneous players at different times of the day, which is great and a slightly better than expected number from the small population we have let in so far."
At this stage at least, the relaunch seems be going well and we’d expect APB Reloaded to be out before the second half of 2011.
