Missing Worlds Media still need your help to deliver on their superhero MMORPG.
The game that rose from the ashes of City of Heroes, City of Titans, arrived on Kickstarter yesterday and encouragingly the community-made MMORPG has already attracted nearly $100,000 worth of investment from would-be fans.
The project is from Missing Worlds Media who have been working on the game for better part of a year, but they require additional investment in order to secure the time, talent and the tools to get City of Titans in a state fit for launch.
Interestingly their pitch has a refreshingly defiant tone to it, with the team preaching that they want to do more than just make an online home for superhero admirers everywhere.
“Our goal is to deliver a unique massively multiplayer online roleplaying game, created from the community of a lost universe, to build a new community for a new world. A brave new world containing a wealth of player choices, from costumes to powers,” reads a statement on the game’s Kickstarter page.
“Players will be able to choose their own adventure, tell their own tales, and have their own agency in a superhuman world.”
“City of Titans is set in a world where there is always hope, even in the darkest of times. The tradition of brightly colored costumes, brilliant heroics, and daring struggles to stand against the shadows cast during times of darkness and corruption. New heroes, your heroes, rise to make their mark on the world while their villainous counterparts lurk in the corners of alleys, behind governments, and even in the boardrooms of the wealthiest corporations. Humanity honors the fallen, and takes inspiration from the selfless sacrifices of heroes who have gone before.”
Thousands of gamers were marooned from City of Heroes for good when NCSoft closed servers during November last year. City of Titans is in many ways a direct response to that closure and at time of writing the project has accumulated over £93,000 of investment from 600 or so backers. That means the game is already 30% funded in just one day’s worth of fundraising.
Funding closes for this free-to-play endeavour on Monday, 4th November, so if you want to show your support be sure to visit the City of Titans Kickstarter page, linked here.
