From October 5th onwards the free-to-play superhero MMO will be going out with a bang!
We're going to miss you City of Heroes, but we're all going to give you a great send off.
Paragon Studios has outlined the final event structure which will preclude City of Heroes closure on November 30th 12:00am PDT/ 7:00GMT.
- Summer Blockbuster – October 5 – October 8
- Double XP – October 18 – October 22
- Halloween Event – October 26 – October 29
- Winter Event – November 9 – November 12
- Rikti Invasion – November 23 – November 30
A new FAQ was also published detailing the MMORPG’s closure, and unfortunately new character account creation has been disabled, so if you want to get involved with City of Heroes’ final hours you’ll need to log-in with a character that has been previously created. Hybrid Hacker, we’re coming back for you buddy!
As much as it pains us to talk about City of Heroes closing, we’re sure the community behind the game will give it the kind of send off that’s fitting for a service that’s been going since 2004. The Save Paragon City movement has fought valiantly, attracting over 19,900 signatures in the official petition, to keep the game open but as days roll on it’s looking increasingly unlikely that this MMO will be saved.
And that’s a real shame…
