Howdy-do one and all, we’ve been especially blessed to have been given 500 City of Steam Alpha keys to give out to you lucky lot for this weekend’s exclusive test event.
For those who have somehow overlooked this beautiful free-to-play MMORPG from Mechanist Games, take a knee and we’ll tell you all about it.
City of Steam is literally set in a world consisting of gears and cogs, with fantasy traditions like orcs, goblins and wizards chucked head first into the industrial era. This melding of settings produces quest content which is quite unlike anything we’ve ever seen from an MMO before, with nine different races and four different classes to choose from.
Make no mistake, despite City of Steam being fully playable in a browser, the game powered by the Unity engine looks every bit as pretty as traditional client-based releases with a multitude of different graphical settings to tailor your experience.
Have you ever seen a browser game that looks this good before? Yeah, we didn't think so.
The enemies you face are also startlingly original too with gun-touting cyborgs mixing it up sharp clawed monsters in a world which wouldn’t look out of place in a Tim Burton flick.
