Red 5 Studios wants as many players as possible in Firefall’s “community-driven development.”
After being in closed beta for over five months, Red 5 Studios has announced that Firefall’s open beta will commence on Tuesday, 9th July.
The shooter MMORPG has been a major feature at PAX, Gamescom and E3 for couple of years at this point, but it seems as though development of Firefall is finally getting to close to a proper all hands-on-deck launch.
“We’re incredibly excited to be nearing what we consider to be the most important stage of Firefall’s development – Open Beta,” said James Macauley, VP of development at Red 5 Studios.
“For us, Open Beta isn’t a traditional ‘marketing beta’, but rather an opportunity to include many more players in our community-driven development process. We’re looking forward to welcoming these new players into the community and continuing to build an amazing game together.”
It’s still possible to purchase Founders Packs in order to start playing Firefall right away, but it’s clear Red 5 Studios want to make a number of tweaks to the game before they let the public in en masse.
