Get ready for the ‘Rise of the Hutt Cartel’.
Ever since Star Wars: The Old Republic went free-to-play BioWare has been rather quiet on their next plans for the MMORPG set in George Lucas’ universe, but today that silence has been broken as a new digital-only expansion titled ‘Rise of the Hutt Cartel’ has been officially unveiled.
The hefty expansion will be priced at $9.99 for subscribers, $19.99 for everyone else, and will centre on the titular gangster slug faction attempting to become a new galactic super power alongside Republic and Imperial forces. Players should expect more epic story content, hours of new recorded dialogue, a new planet dubbed Makeb for factions to fight over, and the level cap to be raised from 50 to 55.
Not only that but all those who pre-order Rise of the Hutt Cartel from SWTOR’s official website will be granted a five days worth of early access to the content, as long as they pre-order by January 7th.
There are still some big questions to be answered about this expansion, including what extra skills will be added to each class to bulk out the newly expanded progression curve, but it’s good to know that BioWare still have big plans for their Star Wars MMO.
