MMOs are still yet to make the jump en masse to consoles, but according to comments from Undead Labs that won't be the case for much longer.
"There are still hurdles to jump with both Sony and Microsoft. But people will make it much easier to jump the hurdle if people can come to the table and say 'we're making a console-only MMO from the ground-up'", explained the studio's founder Jeff Strain.
He went on to say that their forthcoming MMO will "almost certainly" involve a subscription fee. You may remember Mr Strain from his work on Guild Wars, Diablo and World of Warcraft. He is a veteran game designer and it's no surprise that he's able to build bridges with the big boys.

"We are working predominantly with Microsoft and Sony right now but we are open to talking to the other hardware manufacturers. They are all actively involved and figuring out what the next steps are for this kind of entertainment on their consoles - they're both clear that this is part of the future."
Both Microsoft and Sony want to accommodate old and new MMOs on their respective platforms. We are fairly apprehensive though, after all binding all of the MMO functionality to a 360 or PS3 controller won't be an easy task.
A move to consoles would inevitably result in simplified gameplay, but if this would open up the genre to more gamers then so be it..
