BioWare Extend SWTOR Trial Initiative

Published on April 4th, 2012

Existing subscribers can now invite twenty-five of their buddies to sample the MMO for seven days.

Even single-player orientated MMOs like Star Wars: The Old Republic are best enjoyed with others and to better the chances of subscribers getting their friends involved with the MMO, BioWare has increased the number of seven-day account holders can send out to their online chums.

From today, existing players can send up to twenty-five trial invites to any email account they wish via the account management screen.

The trial lasts seven days, but free players can only progress up to level fifteen and their travel is limited to their character’s origin world, capital world, and the fleet. The first flashpoint and warzone can also be sampled.

Trial initiatives have become the go to mechanism for subscription MMO providers to boost server populations, but even by modern day standards the ability to send twenty-five trial invites seems a bit excessive. BioWare are casting a very wide net, but seeing as they have the most beloved sci-fi license on the planet in their arsenal, we aren’t surprised that they’re trying to hook as many people as they can.
