Medium Armour

Friday, 18 May 2007
Level 10 achieved, I ran all the way back up to Thorin's Gate as it's the only place I've found a Hunter trainer. I discovered several things about level 10. Firstly, and this was the first level that offered the opportunity to test this, if you hit a level that has multiple new skills available, you can buy all of those skills at the same time as long as you have the money. There's no need to choose between them, which was surprising.

What is a Buff?

Friday, 18 May 2007
What is a LOTRO buff, you say? A buff is a temporary enhancement to your character's attributes. In other words, it's something that makes you slightly better at something for a short period of time. Different buffs can last for different periods, so one might increase your health (sorry, morale) regeneration rate for 2 minutes, while another might improve your movement speed for 5 minutes.

LOTRO Destiny Points

Thursday, 17 May 2007

Shadows of Angmar threw me a curve ball today when I levelled up to tenth level. I was expecting to get access to the Monster Play on level 10, as I'd read about this in the manual, but it doesn’t massively interest me at the moment as I've got enough to learn in the main part of LOTRO. I hadn't seen Destiny Points though.

Driving me batty

Thursday, 17 May 2007

This is just embarrassing. Here I am a Hunter, a level 9 Hunter and I have spent a good part of the afternoon in Shadows of Angmar getting killed by bats. Honestly, I don't know if there is an infestation at the moment, or whether I am doing something wrong.

LOTRO Cloak and Shirt

Thursday, 17 May 2007
I had something of a lucky break today. While trying to fight my way through Dourhand Warriors to find a "Sturdy Dourhand" in order to complete a quest, one of them dropped a cloak. It has an armour of 13, which isn't much, but given my character is still level 9, any protection is welcome. What is the best part, though not surprising, is that as with many RPGs, you can wear both your armour, like a padded shirt and a cloak on top and get the cumulative armour protection.
