How to mine in LOTRO - Prospecting explained

Whether you are a LOTRO Jeweller or Metalsmith, you need to mine ore and then smelt it at a forge. I only found out how to mine in LOTRO and how to advance in your profession by a mixture of trial and error, luck and asking for help on the advice channel. First of all, buy some bronze mining equipment from a Novice crafter NPC. Then head out and find some deposits that you can mine. At the lowest mining level, you can only mine copper and tin deposits (you may occasionally see Silver or others, but you can't mine them - see below), and you will get one or two bits of ore, and possibly an agate jewel or similar. |

OK, I know I’m being a pedant here – I’ll admit that right up front – but wandering around LOTRO, I can’t help but wonder why the wildlife isn’t remotely affected by the weather. When you’re going to have changing weather and seasons in a game, then surely make sense for those graphical enhancements have some impact on game play and the game world. |

LOTRO Shores of Evendim screen bug?

Since installing the Shores of Evendim patch yesterday, you will probably have noticed the LOTRO has had a minor interface tweak. Now when you select an action from the quick slot bar, its selection is coloured slightly differently and it’s now easier to see which actions you’ve selected in a chain of commands. |

So, I installed the standalone LOTRO Shores of Evendim patch yesterday in order to reduce the patch time today when I loaded LOTRO. I knew that it would have to validate the install, but what surprised me most was that when I loaded LOTRO today, the loader had to download extra program files and then restart before it could get round to validating the LOTRO Shores of Evendim patch. |

Shores of Evendim LOTRO Update
|

|
Shores of Evendim is the first LOTRO content update or patch, whichever you prefer. Shores of Evendim is not a paid for expansion, but a free update to LOTRO. If you've been playing LOTRO, you can't have missed the advert for the Shores of Evendim patch that appears every time you start up. However, when you start the LOTRO game today, you'll see a new option to download the Shores of Evendim as a standalone patch. As ever with the LOTRO instructions though, they appear to have been written by someone who doesn't actually want you to use the patch, because they aren't exactly clear. |
