What makes a good fellowship in LOTRO?

As I've played more of LOTRO, I've started to appreciate that the combination of characters in LOTRO can greatly affect the effectiveness of the fellowship. When you are starting your first fellowship, or creating one with friends, you need to try and get as big a range of classes as possible. It's pretty obvious that the ideal fellowship would contain several Guardians and Champions, a Lore Master, a Captain and a Minstrel. This would enable you to tackle almost anything. How so? In brief, such a combination would work thus: the Guardian would soak up damage from the target while the Champion deals maximum melee damage.Different classes in fellowship improve the overall groupThe Lore Master can offer some healing, but more importantly can deal damage from afar, and can be used to cast a ranged spell to draw in an enemy from a distance. This is a useful tactic if there is a group of spread out enemies whom you can't deal with if they all attacked at once. By picking one off, you can just draw that single enemy into melee range where your fighters can deal with them. The Lore Master can also cast various negative effects (de-buffs) on the enemy to increase their vulnerability. The Captain can improve the effectiveness of the whole group with buffs while the Minstrel is there to heal and damage from afar.A LOTRO fellowship, as in any MMO, is all about teamwork, so voice chat is a great benefit to allow you to co-ordinate your strategy. If you can't gather together this structure for a fellowship, then a variant on it will work. A Hunter, for example, is a reasonable substitute for a Lore Master is it is also a ranged fighter that can deal quite decent damage. If truth be told, one of my characters is an eighth level Champion and I am quite disappointed in the damage he deals, so while you do need a melee fighter, you will find that certainly at the lower levels needing smaller fellowships, a Hunter is a good compromise as it does have melee special attacks.Probably the most critical member of the party is the Minstrel, because the mid-battle healing is essential. You will just need someone who can keep the enemy away from the Minstrel so that it doesn't get involved in melee.
