As you progress through Shadows of Angmar, you will earn things called LOTRO Destiny Points. You get them for various deeds, etc, but what are they? Quite simply they are currency to buy temporary buffs for your character. If you are finding a particular encounter difficult, you can buy a buff using Destiny Points and hopefully do better.
What sort of buffs are they? They are things like improved regeneration rate, speed of movement, etc - all the usual things you'd expect to find in an RPG. To spend some Destiny Points, you simply click on the Spend Destiny button in the floating Destiny Points toolbar. Except you've closed that haven't you? Not to worry, you can open the Destiny Points toolbar at any time by clicking on the crescent moon icon/button in the top right of the mini-map circle (top right of your game screen). When you click on Spend Destiny, the Destiny Points dialog opens up and you'll see a description of all the available buffs. Any that you can afford will be in colour and those that you can't will be greyed out. Click on one and select Buy at the bottom. You'll notice that in addition to needing enough Destiny Points to afford a buff, you will also have to have sufficient level to buy it. Destiny Point buffs start at level 10, so you can't have any below that, but some more powerful buffs require level 40. As soon as you click on Buy, the buff will be purchased and applied to your character and the time of its effect will start to count down, so only buy one when you know you are going to need it really soon.
