Can I install LOTRO on multiple PCs? |

If you want to be able to play LOTRO from more than one location (at home or, ahem, at work, for example), then the good news is that you character your right to play is tied to your COG account, rather than to the installation of the LOTRO game software. In other words, you can install the software where you like and then log in with your COG details.
A good example of this is my own setup, where I have the game installed on my desktop PC with its beautiful dual-core CPU, and GeForce 8800, so I can have the graphics turned up to eleven. I then also have it installed on my laptop, with low graphics settings, so I can play my characters from elsewhere in the house or when on other people's wireless. I only need to have bought the one copy of the game software and then I use the same COG account on both machines so I can play the same characters, swapping seamlessly. From this, you might also have guessed that your characters and their current status and location in LOTRO are all stored on the LOTRO server. So, when you quit the game on one PC with your character in Noglond, and then load it back up on another PC, your character will still be in Noglond, or wherever. Now, while you can install the software multiple times and while you can have multiple characters on any one COG account, you cannot use the same COG account more than once simultaneously. So, you can't be logged into the LOTRO world on both your desktop PC and your laptop at the same time. This stops you from playing two characters simultaneously, and more honestly, it stops you from giving your account details to your mate, so that they can play with you, which, be honest, is what you were thinking. For that, you need your friend to install the software and use the 7 day LOTRO trial code. Trackback(0)
