Shadows of Angmar Level 8 |
|
My character has reached the heady heights of level 8 and it's a big jump, not because of any particular new skill, though I do get "Blindside" which promises to combine melee and bow and sounds useful. What really marks level 8 out for my LOTRO character is that I can finally wear some decentish light armour (I can't wear medium armour until level 10). This has leapt my armour level up by nearly 30 points, which I'm hoping will enable me to go back and have a crack at the bears.
I have developed a fighting strategy, which is to use a trap, which I can lay, before shooting at an enemy to draw them towards me. Using this method the hunter can despatch one goblin before they get into melee range, enabling you take on up to three by yourself. Four, as I discovered, is pushing it. As with all RPGs, LOTRO has no answer to the problem that ranged fighters aren't as touch as melee fighters, but most enemies will rush in to attack you. Clearly the answer in Shadows of Angmar, as in other MMOs, is to join a fellowship, but as long as the fighter or tank in a party is capable of dealing more damage than a hunter (ranged), then you have to question the point of a ranged attack.
