LOTRO Vista crash

Windows Vista showed its colours again this evening when it crashed the loader for LOTRO, Shadows of Angmar. The program just stopped responding for no reason and had to be closed. I would normally lay the blame for any crash at the game developers door, but I've long since stopped doing that on Vista, because the system crashes pretty much all my programs every day.

[EDIT:] Since writing this, I haven't had a single instance of LOTRO crashing in Vista, but a few people have emailed me to ask where they can find out about problems with LOTRO and Vista. As far as I can tell, LOTRO is designed for Vista and so should be fully compatible - it has been certified as a "Game for Windows" by Microsoft. From personal experience there have been no difficulties other than this one, and the only known issue I can see not fixed in the latest patch, specific to Vista, is a graphics issue that is under investigation for a Window Vista specific LOTRO patch. That said, I did manage to find this section of LOTRO Vista problems and solutions on the official site. I hope it's useful to anyone with Vista problems in LOTRO.[/EDIT]

Fully understand the problem, not the solution. After this week's patch LOTRO would not Initialize the updater in the client. I have gone on the forum for support and recieved a cryptic post from the admins about re-downloading the client and using a User account rather than the admin. Only problem is neither of these fixes actually FIX anything.

SAMMYGGG's Solution.... DO NOT USE LOTRO ON VISTA PLATFORMS.

at least until a patch has been released for FULL backwards compatibility.

ahhh windows never works until they release a new version which doesn't work.
