We've said before that LOTRO scales well, but just what is the difference between the lowest graphics quality setting and the highest? We thought we'd take a look and while the whole is greater than the sum of the parts, there are places where the difference in quality isn't that striking. The examples we've shown are between the very lowest graphics and the Ultra High, tweaked to the maximum.
On this shot of a person near a hall, you'll see the figure isn't that different (some better textures), but the lighting and shading are enhanced. Just for clarity the low graphics is on the left, and the high on the right. Although, this next shot takes a bit more studying, there are more examples of the differences. The basic bush is similar, but lacking in textures, on the low graphics version, but on the high graphics you get shadows and blades of grass, so that you don't feel so much like you are running across a 2D surface, but part of a 3D world.
