Developers from Vigil Games offered a new home.
Crytek has announced that they have officially founded a new studio in Austin, Texas today.
The new outfit dubbed ‘Crytek USA’ is being headed by David Adams who was formerly GM and part owner of Vigil Games.
According to Gamasutra the new studio will consist of 35 developers which represent the “brightest development talent in the industry,” some of whom formerly worked for Vigil Games. A representative from Crytek USA even went as far to say that the new studio represented a “new start” for the team behind Darksiders and Darksiders II.
Crytek is one of the fastest growing game corporations in the world with subsidiaries in its home nation of Germany, Ukraine, Hungary, Bulgaria, Seoul, Nottingham, Shanghai and Istanbul.
Vigil Games existence was cast in fresh doubt last week when the studio surprisingly went unsold at THQ’s much-published liquidation auction, but it’s good to know that at least some of the dev talent from that studio is being kept together at a new outfit a stone’s throw away from their former home.
We look forward to the first game from Crytek USA with great interest.
