Let's face it – the Nintendo DS is the most versatile little console on God's green earth. It's a genuine innovation that's given the videogames industry a much-needed shot in the arm. It's played host to an amazing variety of games already, and has developers everywhere thinking outside the box when it comes to creating new titles.

Jam Sessions is one such title, as it's not a game as much as a virtual toy. But not only that, it's hugely educational and (more importantly) massively entertaining. It effectively turns your DS into an acoustic guitar, with your stylus as the plectrum. Slide it up or down the touchscreen to strum the virtual strings, with the chord you play determined by which direction you hold on the D-pad. Ubisoft have been kind enough to provide the chords (and lyrics, so you can sing along) for several songs, although the real value comes in using Jam Sessions to create your own music, or to work out how to play your favourite tune.
