When Football Manager was first announced for the PSP, it's f air to say that few people thought it was a good idea. Here was a game that was tailor-made for the PC, which was bound to suffer from the conversion to the handheld. Necessarily streamlined, it would inevitably offend the purists with its comparative lack of depth, while pretty much everyone else would be bet ter off with the computer version anyway.

Yet, once you actually experienced it, Football Manager Handheld made all kinds of p erfect sense – a management game you could play on the move, or in bed, or wherever and whenever you chose. Pick your side in the bath, train them on the bus to work, choose tactics during lunchtime and take your team onto the pitch while lying in bed. It negated the need to sit at your desktop for hours on end, and its reduced features thankfully made little difference to its basic appeal. Put simply, it just worked.
