Beowulf review Sony PSP
Licensed from the major movie, Beowulf has the potential to be a massive game, with an epic storyline and plenty of opportunity for battle and slaughter. While graphically it's great and there's plenty of action, Beowulf doesn't quite hit the heights that it could have - is this another case of a movie license not living up to its potential? Beowulf review for Sony PSP
W e all know very well that
movie licenses are about
as mixed a bag as you can
possibly get. For every good one
there's a multitude of poor clones and
lazy updates. Our initial thought with
Beowulf though, was that this could be
one of the games that bucks the trend.
I mean, massive warrior fighting
seemingly impossible odds? It almost
sounds like the plot for a videogame
right there. It also doesn't take a genius
to imagine that the best possible game
for Beowulf to emulate would be the
modern classic God of War. Which is
does, only not very successfully.
The problem with looking towards
a game like God of War for inspiration is
that you're setting the bar very high
from the start. And, while there's plenty
of hacking and slashing to be done,
Beowulf just doesn't seem to do it with
the same amount of style and fluidity
that GoW can muster.
