The game follows immediately on from the events in the PS2's fantastic Final Fantasy XII, with leads Vaan and Penelo setting out on a treasure hunt before being dragged off into a conflict to battle baddies before they can finally search for said gold. Balthier and Fran also return to help in this spinoff, which has already been a big success in Japan. What do we know?
Surprisingly, it's not a role-playing game at all, but a turn-based strategic affair with a few simple RPG elements. Perhaps the pickup- and-play appeal of the DS influenced the decision, as b oth the RTS side and the levelling up are fairly simplistic.
