SOCOM Tactical Strike review PSP

SOCOM Tactical Strike review PSP

SOCOM Tactical Strike review for Sony PSP

The SOCOM squad-based shooters generally require more thought than just 'aim, fire, keep shooting' and the latest iteration, Tactical Strike is no exception. Out now on the PSP, SOCOM: Tactical Strike requires you to think ahead and use stealth and strategy to steal a march on your enemy and is likely to keep you engrossed for hours. SOCOM fans will see a big difference in this game however: while the previous games in the series have been first-person shooters, Tactical Strike puts you in the role of the boss of the squad, and the action happens in the third person. This is a big change for the game - will it be a change for the better? Read our SOCOM Tactical Strike review for the PSP now!Click here to read the SOCOM Tactical Strike review for Sony PSP now! SOCOM Tactical Strike review for Sony PSP
SOCOM has always been the thinking p erson's shooter – instead of wading in and pumping your enemies full of bullets, you have to plan your moves with stealth in mind and think… before pumping your enemies full of bullets. But Tactical Strike brings something new to the part y. Instead of taking control in the first person, you're the boss of a squad of four crack spe cial ops in the third person. Plus, instead of directly controlling the group and sho oting or moving for them, you order them to move, shoot or do whatever action you wish, and they then carry out your command on their own. And while this different tactical system is tricky to get used to at first, af ter you've played through the tutorial level, you soon get hooked. With so many commands available to you (should you use a sniper, creep about or throw a grenade through a window to flush your enemies out?) you'd think that the controls would be difficult to master, but they're surprisingly intuitive, and commanding your men to do what you want when you want is refreshingly simple.
