There are many different ways to play through the Splinter Cell Conviction single player campaign. This walkthrough is how we played the game. This part of our Walkthrough covers level nine, Michigan Ave, Reservoir.
Sam is now en route to disrupt one of the EMP devices; he can`t stop all three, but this one will hit the area of the city his daughter lives in. He infiltrates the site, learns about the EMP detonation mechanism, and once calls on Coste`s help to take it down. Sam and Sarah are finally reunited. They set off towards the White House to foil Reed’s plot to take down the President.
1 -Interrogate Black Arrow officer
2-Find the scientist to learn how to stop the EMP
3-Send the coordinates of the two Generators to Coste
4-Survive the attack of Prentiss’ helicopter and wait for Coste’s arrival
You might remember this level from the demo. You’ll start off on the road with a weapon stash just to your left. Head down the road and you’ll see that there’s a lot of guards just through the gate on your left hand side. You can creep past and move to the right hand side of the vehicle stationed just outside. If you throw a grenade or a mine toward the entrance to where the guards are located, you’ll encourage to concentrate on that area, which allows you to move up the embankment, sneak past them, and drop down. You need to clear this area before you can interrogate the Black Arrow officer and now that you’re behind the guards it’s a lot easier. Make sure you don’t kill the officer standing by the car otherwise you’ll have to start over. You can the other guards out who should now be searching your last know position with headshots or a carefully placed grenade or remote mine. If you haven’t done so already now is a good time to complete one of the PEC Challenges by gaining a stealth headshot. Interrogate the office. You’ll acquire the M468.
Infiltrate the warehouse. There’s a couple of ways that you can gain entry. Through the door on the right, or move down the west side of the building up the pipe and through the window. If you take the latter option, you’ll land on a ledge above the patrolling guards. You can shoot out one of the chemical lights to bring it crashing down on two of them. Another group will come and investigate. If you time it right you can kill all three of them with one carefully placed mine. There’s still more guards to contend with, but they should be spread out and you tackle them in a variety of ways. There’s a lot of dark cover so you can sit patiently waiting for them to come near you. You could just take them out with your weapon, or you could use the pipe that is just to the left of you as you climb through the window to execute Death From Above kills. Once done head into the room where it says “Find The Scientist.”
Jump up to cling onto the pipe, shimmy across and then slide right down to the bottom where you’ll have to crouch to move forward. There’s only one way to go here, so keep moving until you see a pipe that you can climb on your left hand side. Go up and get onto the balcony where you’ll have the upper hand over the next guards. There are three guards below you as you move across the balcony. If you drop down the far side you can avoid them and move through to the next section. Alternatively, you could kill them all with a frag, but beware you’ll alert more guards that will come to investigate from the other area. You’re in quite a confined space in this section and there’s not a lot of cover spots. Racking together some headshots is the quickest and most effective way to move through. Pick up a machine gun from one of the guards, it will make the next section easier. Head toward the objective marker and take the metal stairs on the left.
You’ll be above the guard who has the scientist captive. Perform a Death From Above move and then mow down the three other guards in the room with your machine gun. Speak to the scientist and relax while a cutscene kicks in. Head through the tunnel and to the right toward your objective marker. You’ll see a weapon stash right in front of you. It’s worth equipping the shotgun here! Head down the corridor until you reach the end. You’ll have to jump up. A cut-scene kicks in. There’s guards everywhere above you. You can see them by turning your sonar goggles on. There’s one that stands just by the hatch above you. Shoot him dead and the others will stupidly peer over to try and get a shot at you. You’ll be able to headshot them all with your shotgun. You could also use your sticky cam, throw it upstairs and then set it off to make a noise as a distraction while you jump up from behind and eliminate them all. You’ll know when you’re safe to jump up because the music will stop. Move outside and toward your objective marker where you’ll see a mounted machine ready to take you out if you’re spotted. Just throw a grenade behind it where the guard is standing and then you can pass safely.
Follow the path down and through the shaft until you reach a ladder where you have to jump up. Jump up and hang there for a moment. Wait for the guard to come close and perform a ledge kill. Climb up and you’ll see loads of guards patrolling around the generator. Tons of different ways you can deal with these. We used a sticky cam to create a noise and then set a remote mine just underneath it. When three of them came to examine it, we detonated the mine. The rest we just shot. As long as you’re quick and take them by surprise you can kill at least two of them before they’ll even get a chance to shoot back. Move to Generator One and tag the target. Time to locate the second generator.
Move toward the objective marker. You’ll set off a trip wire down the right hand side of the building if you’re not careful. You can avoid it by climbing through the window on your left and out the other window on the opposite side. Personally, you might as well take them out. There’s only three of them, so you can take these down easily in typcial shooter style. Head toward the objective marker underground where you’ll find a weapon stash right in front of you. Move through the corridor but keep an eye out for the opening on your right. There are loads guards in here. You can grab and kill the first guard silently. The one next him will come and investigate. You can grab him as he walks through the door. You’ll see another guard further back in the room. He’ll be standing still so you should be able to execute a silent headshot. Move through the door slowly and take out all the small lights so you have plenty of cover.
There’s a lot of guards in here. Try and take a few out by sneaking up behind them. You can use Mark And Execute to kill a few of them and then move back away from your last known position to attack again. Portable EMP comes in useful here, as do Flash Bangs to blind the guards while you go in for kill. A machine gun is a good weapon to have at this point. If you’re struggling, there’s an exploding barrel just behind the two jeeps which should kill a couple. Through the room, past the jeeps and up the ramp. A short cut scene kicks in. You’ll automitcally start in cover and have a helicopter hovering above ready to shoot. Head to the left to the next piece of cover. Keep snapping from cover to cover. If you treat the lights from the helicopter in the same way that you did with the lights from the surveillance cameras, just keep in the dark spots. Treat this section as a shooter. Keep behind cover and headshot the guards. You can use the building right in the middle for cover. You need to reach the doorway on the far side. Once again, wait for when the helicopter’s lights aren’t blaring down on you and run for it to the door. The chopper will blow the roof of your building, but you’ll be safe.
Jump out the right hand side of the building and move forward to the next cover spot. A wave of guards will appear next to the second generator. There’s no point moving from this position until you’ve killed them all, otherwise the chopper will take you down. They may try and flank you so watch your left. Grenades and remote mines are a life saver here. Wait till the coast is clear and go tag the generator. You’re done.
