If you’re playing LOTRO and you launch a Skirmish Join where “Survival – Barrow Downs” is the top Skirmish in the Skirmish Join dialog, you may end up fighting other skirmishes at a harder level than you intended.
As a quirk of the system, because the Survival – Barrow Downs skirmish is a Small Fellowship or above Skrimish, the dialog will set itself to Small Fellowship by default.
Watch out for the default on Skirmish Join - they could catch you out.
If you then choose a different skirmish, such as Tuckborough, the dialog won’t default back to Solo, even if you are by yourself, so if you’re not careful, you could find yourself playing a Small Fellowship difficulty of a different skirmish when you are on your own.
Several times, I’d walked into a new Skirmish to wonder why on earth I’m being inundated with mobs, and this is the reason. Short answer – always check the Skirmish settings before launching. You’ll regret it otherwise!
