Stranger missions are optional side-quests that can earn you fame and honor as well as bag you some extra cash. We’ll be adding to this guide regularly so be sure to check out the main Red Dead Redemption guide page for other Stranger Missions and tips.
This mission is called “The Wronged Woman” and is unlocked when you complete the main mission “Appointed Time.”
Where to find it?
Head to Blackwater church after 6pm. You’ll find a pregnant woman, Clara, who has been abandoned by the baby’s father and her family.
Task
Find and speak to the father, Harold Thornton and ask him for cash to support the baby.
Tips
Head for the bar in Blackwater to find a drunken Harold Thornton. He’s in no mood to chat and insists that he knows nothing about even knowing Clara, but he challenges you to a duel outside the saloon. Remember to aim your target at his gun-wielding hand first and then remaining shots to his head. Grab the $200 that he has in his pocket and head back to Clara to tell her the good news. Clara mentions attending the funeral.
If you return to the graveyard after a couple of days you’ll find Clara at the tomb in the cemetary where you discover that he wasn’t actually the baby’s father after all. Nasty!
There’s a number of reported glitches with this mission, so if you see him respawn or you’re told that you’ve killed him even if you haven’t even had the duel go back to an earlier save point and try again.
