Metro 2033 – Weapon And Upgrades Guide

Published on March 26th, 2010

Check out Gamerzine’s Guide to all the and all the that you’ll find throughout your journey in this post apocalyptic world.

There are four ranged weapon classes and you can carry one weapon in each class at any time, except for Throwing weapons where you can carry all types at once.

New weapons can be bought and upgraded at Trading points or looted from bodies. There are also powerful weapons hidden across the levels, so it pays to explore.

Pistol Class

Pistol

The pistol is a high-powered six-shot weapon. There is one basic pistol model in the game but this can be fitted with upgrades in a variety of combinations. Upgrades include:

- Silencer – reduces the power of your shot, but allows you to execute stealth kills.

- Extended Barrel – increases the range and accuracy of your shots.

- Optics – adds a sniper scope for long range kills.

- Stock – reduces recoil and increases accuracy.

A pistol with all these modification attached is a formidable weapon.

Automatic Class

Note: All Automatic weapons can be loaded with either Military Grade or Dirty rounds.

‘Bastard Gun’

The Bastard gun is hand-made in the Armoury. It is fully automatic but has a slow reload time and suffers from high recoil. The Bastard Gun can be fitted with a Silencer for stealth kills.

Kalash

The pre-apocalypse classic. High powered and fully automatic. The Kalash can be equipped with a Scope for long range shots.

VSV

The VSV is a brutal SMG with a fast reload but low clip size. It comes with a red dot sight as standard. It can be equipped with a silencer and Optics.

Kalash 2012

The Kalash is a modern military grade automatic with a large clip size. It can be fitted with a Silencer and Scope.

Heavy Class

Shotgun

The hand-made shotgun is a powerful close range weapon, but needs to be reloaded every two shots. You can fire left and right barrels independently, and can re-load one shell at a time.

Automatic Shotgun

The automatic shotgun boasts all the power of the shotgun with a faster fire rate and larger capacity. It can be loaded with up to six shells, and firing can be interuppted by a reload at any time. Some Automatic shotguns are fitted with bayonets, for a more powerful melee attack.

Tihar

The Tihar is a hand-made Pneumatic-powered weapon that fires ball-bearings and acts like a semi-automatic sniper rifle. You can over-charge shots by holding the reload button and pumping the right trigger. A guage on the back of the gun shows your air-pressure. The Tihar can be equipped with a sniper scope. The Tihar is naturally silences , allowing for stealth kills.

Helsing

The Helsing is an extremely powerful Pneumatic-powered Harpoon gun. Like the Tihar, you can over-charge your shots. Similarly, you can equip a scope, and the weapon is naturally silenced. Helsing ammo is expensive and hard to come by, but you can retrieve and re-use ammo from corpses and the envrionment.

Throwing Weapons

Throwing Knife

The throwing knife can execute silent, one-hit kills if used correctrly. Thrown knives can also be picked up and re-used.

Grenade

You can prime the fuse of your grenades by holding the right trigger. Just don’t hold on too long!

Sticky

Works just like a regular grenade, but will stick where it lands – including to enemies.
