Check out Gamerzine’s tips for the post apocalyptic shooter, Metro 2033, ideal for beginner’s hoping to survive the oppressive, mutant infested underground.
Conserve ammo wherever possible – Go for headshots, use your throwing knives, take careful aim.
Loot every corpse - the more ammo you have, the better your purchasing power will be in the trading points.
Explore away from the beaten track – the Metro is littered with secrets, from single Military grade bullets to full-blown secret baese where you will find new weapons and huge ammo stashes
Use Stealth – shoot out lights to create pools of darkness, avoid broken glass and use silenced weapons to take down your foes.
Headshots Count – but beware of humans wearing helmets, your first show may only dislodge their armour.
Think carefully when making moral decisions - whether you decide to give ammo to a beggar, or decide not to give ammo to the man whose son is ill, think carefully. The moral decision you make will affect the final outcome.
Choose wisely before using or selling ammo – There are two different types of ammo: Hand-made and Military grade. It will take a lot more effort for you to kill your enemies with hand-made ammo. Military grade ammo is more effective but you may also need it desperately to buy supplies.
Gas Mask Filters – they only last for a limited amount of time and must constantly be replaced
Watch your health – your health does re-charge but very slowly so use your med packs wisely.
Targeting controls feel too slow - you can tweak the sensitivy of the Look and Aim in the main menu.
You don’t need a map – Your journal has a compass on it, follow the green pointer to your next objective.
