Mass Effect 2 – Top 5 Planets to Mine

January 30, 2010 | In: Mass Effect 2

The universe is a cold, dark and unforgiving place. So it’s no wonder that when you’re finally given free reign to explore it can be a little overwhelming. Well, it would be if a friendly and giving website didn’t tell you which planets to visit first. The following five planets are the first gamers should visit when they need some valuable platinum, element zero, palladium or irridium for those lovely upgrades, armour and weapons.

5. Planet Name: Patseyev

Patseyev

  • System: Pamyet
  • Cluster: Hades Nexus
  • Probes Used: 11
  • Primary Resource: Platinum – Over 10,000

The first planet on our list only has one resource but it has oh so much of it! If you need platinum this should be your first port of call.

4. Planet Name: Kruban

Kruban

  • System: Aralakh
  • Cluster: Krogan DMZ
  • Probes Used: 10
  • Primary Resource: Palladium – Over 12,000

The former frontline of Krogan wars has left many planets ripe for plundering and Kruban represents the best this system has to offer. Palladium is the main resource available but there’s also enough platinum to afford that special piece of armour you’ve had your eyes on.

3. Planet Name: Zada Ban

Zada Ban

  • System: Xe Cha
  • Cluster: The Shrike Abyssal
  • Probes Used: 10
  • Primary Resource: Element Zero – Over 3000

This planet is a real all-rounder, there’s over 3000 of palladium, irridium and platinum. The only reason we chose to highlight element zero is due to it’s rarity in the galaxy. What’s best about this planet is that it is located in the same system as a mass drive and it also has a small mercenary base to conquer.

2. Planet Name: Komorov

Komorov

  • System: Pamyet
  • Cluster: Hades Nexus
  • Probes Used: 11
  • Primary Resource: Irridium – Over 13,000

This is the second planet to feature from the Hades Nexus cluster and even though we were a little apprehensive to include two entries from the same sector this planet had the biggest spike of irridium we have ever seen in all our travels in the ‘verse.

1. Planet Name: Gei Hinnoman

Gei Hinnom

  • System: Sheoul
  • Cluster: Hades Nexus
  • Probes Used: 19
  • Primary Resource: Element Zero – Over 6000

Despite being the only planet in this system, tiny Gei Hinnoman is well worth the amount of fuel it takes to get there. As well as having untapped platinum, irridium and palladium, there’s also the much sought after element zero. It’s not the quantity but the quality that counts.

I think that the planet Ernie in the first system of the hourglass nebula should be number one because not only does it have tons of platinum and palladium it also has well over 8000 element zero
