If you’ve just got Mass Effect 2 and want to avoid some rather unpleasant moments in the game which have no real impact on the storyline and are really annoying, read further.
1 - Don’t complete character quests for Miranda and Jack before you have an almost full counter of Paragon/Renegade points. When you complete both quests, the two characters get into a fight and the only way to keep both of them friendly towards you is to have either Paragon or Renegade dialogue options. This isn’t really hinted anywhere but is understandable from the storyline, so it’s a really annoying event.
2 - Also don’t complete character quests for both Legion and Tali since the same as above will happen, however, the necessary Paragon/Renegade score is considerably lower (2/3 full). This is hinted several times directly in the game’s dialogue.
3 – Some end-game mission character choices: To get the character doing the tunnel mission to survive, pick Tali (Legion would die). To get the distraction team leader to survive pick Miranda/Garrus. To get the
Biotic Shield mission to be casualty-free pick Jack/Samara (if you pick Miranda, someone will die). Whoever does the escorting back will survive (if loyal).
4 - Finding and purchasing all the ships armor/ weapons/ shield upgrades is very important if you want all your characters to survive the end-game mission.
