Here’s an easy way to draft better players in Madden NFL 10 and get the 1st pick in the draft every time, although this will only work if you don’t mind playing without a salary cap. When you start a franchise, turn off the trade deadline and turn off the salary cap as well. Then play through most of the season, if you’re doing really well as you approach the final two weeks of the regular season then you can literally guarantee yourself the 1st pick in the 1st round of the draft.
Have a look on the Standings page at who has the worst record in the NFL and therefore who is the most likely to get the 1st overall selection in the draft. Go to trade players and select your 1st round pick. Then select the team with the worst record and ask to trade their 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks for your 1st! It works for me every time! You can then go to the team who has the second worst record and trade your plethora of 2nd and 3rd round picks from the first trade and get their 1st round pick too! You then guarantee that you will get first choices in the draft.
